A Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) is a person who has lived experience of a mental illness, substance use disorder or co-occurring disorder, who has made the journey from illness to wellness, and who now wishes to help others.
A Certified Recovery Coach (CRC) promotes recovery and removes barriers and obstacles to recovery. Recovery Coaches serve as a personal guide and mentor for people seeking or already in recovery from an addiction to alcohol and/or other drugs.
The Certified Young Adult Peer Support Specialist (CYAPSS) program is a new program that certifies young adults ages 18 through 30 in Tennessee, who have lived experience with or are on a journey of healing from mental illness and/or substance abuse for at least a year, to provide peer support to other young adults dealing with the same issues.
Lifeline Representatives help start Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Celebrate Recovery, and other self-help support groups. They help connect individuals with treatment and they speak publicly about their own personal experience with recovery.
